The kind of physical training we do at the Channel 1 box is well established, highly effective strength and functional training. If you've lifted weights before, or done CrossFit or Hyrox, you'll be right at home. Don't worry, though, you don't need prior experience to come train!
What does the somatic approach add?
"Soma" is a Greek word and means "the living body". If you change your body – intentionally, purposefully and skillfully – you change who you ARE, how you are able to show up in the world, and what becomes possible for you.
Traditional physical training can boost mood, confidence and resilience. These positive effects, however, tend to "just happen" as byproducts.
As a PT and somatic coach, I can help you understand how you are BEING in your body during movement, how your embodied patterns show up and constrict your muscles, and thus put limitations on how you can activate and extend your energy. Together, we turn your physical training into a profound life practice, transform your patterns and constrictions and get you results physical training without this intentional quality cannot.
